As a working mom, cooking simple dishes and keeping my home clean are two chores that I need to do daily. The best people to learn from, are of course the chefs.

Out of the restaurant organisation tricks, I am going to share my best 5 tips that you can use for your kitchen.

1. Sterilise and clean kitchen after use

One of the good practice that I learned with I visited this caterer, https://lexincatering.com.sg/ is that the chefs clean up their work station immediately after use. Do not let oil to sit in or you will have a hard time getting them off. Dirt collects easily on oily and sticky surface.

And of course, good cleaning solutions do the trick as well. For home use, my favourite brand will be bio-home multi-surface cleaner, this works well without harshness as it contains lemongrass and green tea. You may visit the range of products here, www.lamsoon.com.my

2. Storage of food

Organising raw food in the right compartments and containers will ensure quality of food and prevent food from turning bad. Air tight containers help to keep raw food such as meat, seafood and poultry last longer, but do not mix them in the same container. I use different colour code to different my meat, the chef at https://lexincatering.com.sg/ reveals using labels may be confusing and the labels may come off after washing, use colour code is environmental friendly and easy to spot. As a chef in Lexin cooks for a wide range of menu for tingkat delivery in Singapore, the amount of inventory is unimaginable.

3. Chopping Board

To refrain from contaminating your food, invest in a few chopping boards. Categorise them by fruits and vegetables, raw meat and cooked food. You can differentiate them by colours or material, the wooden types are good for raw food. Wash and dry your chopping boards properly and refrain them by storing near the sinks. They get mouldy and get germs from the water area.

4.Masking Tape

For dried food and spices, you can use masking tape to indicate expiry dates or date of opening. You can write on them and change the masking tape when you are changing container. It is cheap alternative and you can place your tape anywhere around your desired container.

5. Design of your kitchen

Design your sink higher for comfort and keep water from splashing to your table top. This is because deep sinks are in trend and if your table top is of the normal height, you will find it hard to do your washing. And you will tend to hunch back, it strains your back in the long term. The worst thing is that your table gets so wet after every wash and it is nightmare!
